On November 14, 2019, Meranda Vieyra, Founder and CEO of Denver Legal Marketing LLC, discussed marketing basics to a new cohort in the Legal Entrepreneurs for Justice (LEJ) program, hosted by LawBank at the Colorado Blvd location. The LEJ provides resources and trains lawyers, in order to plan and establish their own socially conscious law firms and provide affordable legal services to middle-income clients in Colorado. The lawyers in the LEJ cohort had a variety of practices—education and disability law, civil litigation for small businesses, representation of veterans, criminal and family law.

Meranda discussed essential marketing strategies for any law firm just starting out or needing to expand their network and visibility. She shared that the first step is to build your brand by thinking about how you want to be perceived, then focus on the visual identity aspects to form part of the overall brand. Last, she encouraged participants to create a logo (with or without a mark)  that clearly identifies your firm.

Meranda provided information on website essentials and how to determine the best multi-channel marketing mix to maximize your law firm’s online presence. She also emphasized the importance of utilizing social media platforms. In a survey of 101 law firms, half of them grew their number of clients due to increased social media engagement. There are thousands of people engaged in legal discussion and potential purchasers of legal services, and having a strong marketing plan can keep them interested in your firm.
