On November 13, 2019, Meranda Vieyra, Founder and CEO of Denver Legal Marketing LLC, spoke to the Legal Entrepreneurs for Justice (LEJ) about business development basics for young lawyers which was hosted by LawBank CoBo. This is the second cohort of this legal incubator based in Colorado that creates socially conscious law firms.

Meranda covered how to develop your personal brand, online marketing strategies, networking, and increasing visibility in the legal industry. She emphasized that reputation management and relationship building are essential from day one. For a law firm of any size, online marketing and in-person marketing strategies “need to talk” so that one comprehensive message is consistently being supported. Creating a branding strategy will help lawyers achieve their long-term business goals.

It is important for lawyers to understand the value they bring to the industry and focus on their skillset by narrowing down to a specialty niche in an area they enjoy. Meranda recommended in-person action items lawyers can do to open opportunities for growth. Opportunities arise from expanding their professional network and increasing visibility by keeping an up-to-date biography with their credentials such as awards, publications, and presentations, as well as taking advantage of legal industry online directories.
