In June 2023, Denver Legal Marketing (DLM), Denver’s top choice for fast, effective, affordable legal marketing services, donated $500 to the local Law School Yes We Can program.
DLM’s donation is an example of its commitment to DEI within Colorado’s law firms and legal community.
LAW SCHOOL… Yes We Can (“LSYWC”) is an innovative local nonprofit focusing on developing tomorrow’s diverse leaders. The legal profession has long lacked diversity. In a 2012 survey, only 25 percent of law students and 12 percent of attorneys were people of color, compared with 37 percent across the U.S. population. Scholars believe that a host of issues are to blame. For example, many believe that the following factors play a role in the lack of diversity in the legal field:
Most American law students come from relatively elite backgrounds, especially at prestigious law schools. There only five percent of law students are from families whose socioeconomic status falls in the bottom half of the national distribution. Law students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who are the first in their families to graduate high school and college also face challenges in accessing a legal career.
LSYWC has about 25-27 students (“fellows”) annually, ensuring that each receives the one-on-one attention they deserve. Each class of fellows has a customized annual workshop curriculum, and each fellow has at least three mentors and many bonus mentors.
It’s an exciting time at LAW SCHOOL…Yes We Can— after only three years, they count in their ranks nearly two hundred lawyers committed to supporting our nearly forty fellows. Financial and other support from generous companies like Denver Legal Marketing also helps continue to create incredible opportunities for LSYWC Fellows.
LSYWC values the dedication and partnership of their donors for our program and looks forward to their collaboration with them.
DLM is committed to supporting DEI efforts in the legal community. In addition to supporting LSYWC, DLM DLM also proudly supports the following organizations:
